2021.10.20 02:03 bazingajosh2002 Attention hokk holders!!!!!

In case you have been living under a rock, Hokk is being relaunched with a 10B supply across three chains. If you own hokk on BSC then there is nothing you need to do. However, if you own hokk on ETH you will need to send to a dev migration wallet when it’s announced. This will provide liquidity for the relaunch. If you choose not to send them you need to sell. The current hokk you own will be worthless after relaunch.
Important note….Your hokk must be sent from a personal wallet such as Trust or MM. If you own on an exchange such as Hotbit you will need to move your hokk to that personal wallet first.
If you have more questions please join our telegram or discord. There is a relaunch document posted in each that explains things in detail.

2021.10.20 02:03 Upbeat-Indication-82 [Timewheel watch straps] just an FYI that these straps are soft and fantastic for $22 (Through Amazon). It fits my Seiko Monster perfectly and should look great on any Seiko diver! I have a 6.75" wrist and I'm on the last hole, so it probably won't fit anybody with smaller wrists than this.

2021.10.20 02:03 blunned Would a savant remote + HomeKit integration be a good solution to get a good universal remote that can tie in with my home theater and home automation while still being able to customize and have control of the home automation?

Struggling to find a good “universal remote” for my new hone theater system that can tie in well with home control/automation. I have been looking into home automation and have shied away from professional systems given their lack of end user customizability/control and am leaning toward options such as HomeKit/homeseeor home assistant. But the really nice universal remotes are locked behind these professional systems to some extent. I have used the Logitech harmony hubs in the past and they worked fine, but I’m hoping to move past those given future uncertainty and some overall clunkiness I didn’t love (especially with Xbox).
I noticed savant has HomeKit integration. Would it be feasible to get a nice savant remote/system and have that set up by a professional, but primarily use HomeKit for my automations so I can manage that side myself? Essentially trying to get the nicer hardware while maintaining software/scene customizability.
Thanks for reading!

2021.10.20 02:03 matbezlima ATLA's first season is criticized way too harshly

I know ATLA's first season is far inferior to the other two. I know it has problems, it is often clunky and rough in pacing, tone and characterization (I think that it was only in episode 8, Avatar Roku, that the writers fully ironed out all kinks with Sokka's character). The pisodes The King Of Omashu (hate its color palette, and hate how Sokka is a total moron in it) and The Great Divide are horrible. The Fortuneteller is rescued by much more polished visuals than in the first half of the season, and specially by Sokka simultaneously at his most hilarious and most admirable (always love him as the straight-man surrounded by fools, his pragmatism is one of his greatest traits, and it balances Katara and Aang's idealism and naiveté early on). I'm not gonna argue that the first season is a masterpiece (though a few individual episodes, like The Storm and The Blue Spirit, are masterpieces). I even have already written a huge post on the flaws of Season 1 in another site, I can share it here if you are interested.
But I can't wrap my mind around how much Season 1 gets thrown under the bus, I even saw people call it almost unwatchable! And even among ATLA fans, it's often treated as some black sheep of the show!
And this level of harsh criticism really leaves me stumped, in total disbelief. Maybe some people have insanely "higher standards" than me, but I know that perfection is never something I actively seek to enjoy something. Charm, fun and heart are huge factors for me, and art doesn't need to conform to standards of flawlessness. For at least every flaw of Season 1, I still can think about a lot of that it did right. It had heart, promising stuff, and charm from the start.
An episode such as The Southern Temple has sometimes pretty rough editing and pacing (and I dislike the amount of "Sokka loves food" jokes), but it still did a lot of nice, promising stuff with Zuko, showing him to be more than he seemed, and also with Aang (showing his flashbacks remembering Gyatso, his cheerfulness, the crushing revelation of the genocide when he sees Gyatso's body), and how Sokka and Katara thought differently about what was the best approach to take with telling him the truth. The ending was particularly poignant, with a blue color palette in the visuals, Aang saying to Appa and Momo: "we're all that's left from this place, we have to stick together". And then a soothing melody, Aang looking back at the air temple with a serene expression on his face, wind on his back as he's flying on Appa, the temple then disappears behind clouds.
That's beautiful, and I can think of a lot more such moments, even in episodes that are mostly a mess, such as Bato Of The Water Tribe. There was too much drama not allowed to breathe, but I still loved Sokka's flashbacks in it, they added depth to his character and why he took so seriously protecting the Southern Water Tribe village in the first episodes, despite no chance of winning (I wish the show had played his conflict with Zuko a bit less goofier, it was an example of awkward tone, not knowing well when to use bathos).
And I love the show has its characters behaving like kids, being goofy and childish sometimes (I love some of Katara and Sokka's bickering, and Katara's sassy remarks against Sokka, like when he is courting Yue). I'll never get the criticisms about Aang being "obnoxious, impulsive, annoying, unlikeable", they're so flanderized and unfair with his character, overly harsh.
-----------------------‐----------------------------------
Overall, Season 1 is far from the black sheep that some make it to be. It ranges from decent to good in my opinion, I can't see how it's a bad season, much less "almost unwatchable". The first season of almost any show, specially longer and serialized ones like ATLA, or episodic ones, is almost always far weaker and clunkier. I don't see how ATLA's first season be significantly worse in that regard when compared to almost any other show.
I guess that Avatar's first season is over-scrutinized and criticized like that because of the stigma that so-called "kids' shows" carry. People watch it with the prejudiced mindset against kids' shows. When a joke such as Zuko's helmet falling on his butt happens (the lowest single moment in the entire show in my opinion, that joke makes Zuko look like a complete fool, and takes gravitas away from the situation, an example of the awkward tone of the show early on), people are already inclined to see such flaws through the lens of "this is just childish like any kids' show", and exacerbate them. The flaws in so-called "adult shows" seem to more easily get a pass. And yes, people who say "it's a kids' show" with the opposite purpose, to defend it a flaw, are also being prejudiced and doing a back-handed defense. Sad that kids' shows have such conotations. The fact they are kids' shows gives some people a far harsher mindset towards such flaws than the ones from adult shows. The amazing qualities and great atributes that are more unique to kids' shows, like childlike wonder, don't get enough credit as the atributes of "adult" media like Breaking Bad.
On that regard, I highly recommend my previous threads here, like "A Defense of so-called Kids' Shows", if you want to know my instances on all of that, and me adressing all the typical criticisms that ALL media geared towards kids and young teens suffer (not even Ghibli escapes from the criticisms that plague all such media, like being called "just for kids or adults that like kids' stuff, not for true adults" and "not mature", "too black and white", "too basic", "I already know all these lessons", "a top kids' media is still just that", "you only think it's so great because of nostalgia", and countless others). I recommend too my thread about plot holes, and specially another one about overanalyzing and the prejudices we have regarding our "superior" and "mind-blowing" ideas on art, all these threads talk a lot about the criticisms against kids' shows. Also my thread on how art shouldn't strive to be perfect, and other thread I made on how I wouldn't want Avatar to be any grittier, deeper and more realistic, like in its portrayal of war. And I recommend my thread on filler episodes.
Last, but not least, I've been contemplating making an ATLA appreciation thread, sharing my love for it, like I did with Astro Boy and Disney's Pinocchio. But I'm hesitant because of how popular Avatar is now. I don't have prejudices against something being popular, but there is a part of me that is really aprehensive with the franchise's recent popularity boom. Why? Because popular things always attract more irrational fans, and lots of hype backlash. It's disheartening and sad to see that happen with something you love. I don't want to make an ATLA post and risk receiving a reply like "oh no, not another post praising that show". I love ATLA. You can find pretty much all of my feelings on all of this matter of hype backlash in the threads I made about overanalyzing and how art shouldn't strive to be perfect, and we shouldn't demand such.
